Sanitary Sewer Overflow Reported on November 14, 2024 at 700 N. Broadway
On November 14, 2024, Wastewater Pollution Control was notified of a sewage leak on the ground at 700 N Broadway. City staff responded promptly and discovered a leak originating from a 4” sewer line. The sewage was visibly leaking through the ground surface.
Staff jetted the line to clear the obstruction stopping the leak. A contractor was hired to assess the blockage of the 4” sewer line. They found roots to be the cause. The contractor cleared roots to restore normal flow through the line.
City staff cleaned the affected area including storm runoff creek located nearby. Creek contaminated signs were posted around the storm runoff creek, advising the public to avoid contact with the area until testing can confirm that e. coli levels are within safe, normal range.
