The Leavenworth Fire Bell in front of Fire Headquarters, which reads "The Leavenworth Fire Bell: This bell hung over the market house and city hall from 1869 to 1924 when the building was razed. For 55 years it announced a fire by rapid ringing and, after a pause, named the ward where the fire was located. It rang the hour on the hour, and at nine the curfew sent the young ones home. Many an early day citizen took his last ride to the slow peals of our bell."
