FREE FIRST SATURDAY will is CANCELED for January. Next date will be Saturday, February 1st depending on the weather.
NOTICE: the Recycling Center is closed and will reopen on January 14, 2025, weather permitting.

The Leavenworth Recycling Center accepts the following items and is always free to City of Leavenworth residents:
- Tin and aluminum cans
- Car Batteries and Rechargeable Batteries (i.e. batteries from hand tools). NOTE: **Battery sizes D, C, A, AA and AAA batteries are accepted at the Leavenworth County Transfer Station on Gilman Road in Lansing.
- E-Waste
- Used Automotive Oil
- Plastics - we cannot accept motor oil bottles, pesticide/herbicide bottles, automotive product bottles (brake fluid, windshield washer fluid, etc), plastic bags, plastic toys, foam and styrofoam (packing materials such as peanuts or packaging sheets/blocks), PVC pipe or plastic sheet materials.
- Glass - (no porcelain, china, tempered, mirrors, etc.)
- Paper products - (cardboard, magazines, paper, etc.)
- Please remove all lids and neck rings, and clean and rinse any cans, plastic bottles and glass items.
E-Waste Recycling:
The City of Leavenworth is the first City in Kansas to offer e-waste recycling. City of Leavenworth residents can drop off materials such as TVs, VCRs, DVDs, old cell phones, computers and video players at the Recycling Center near the Municipal Service Center. Our Recycler will no longer accept cathode-ray tube (CRT) TVs or computer monitors, only flat screen.
Commercially-generated materials are not accepted at the Recycling Center; however, commercial contractors can contact the Unicor Recycling Factory directly at (913) 578-1414.
