Hometown Proud: Wayne Simien

Wayne Anthony Simien Jr. was born March 9, 1983 in Leavenworth KS and graduated from Leavenworth High School. He attended the University of Kansas, Lawrence and played on the basketball team. He ended his career at KU with scoring 1,593 points, and rebounds of 884. He helped lead KU to a 110-28 record, along with three Big 12 Championships, four NCAA Tournament appearances, three Elite Eights and two Final Fours.  

Simien was selected 29th in the first round of the 2005 NBA Draft and was picked up by the Miami Heat with whom he won an NBA Championship in 2006.
