WHAT IS THE CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU?
The Leavenworth Convention and Visitors Bureau is the official Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) for Leavenworth, Kansas. The Convention and Visitors Bureau is responsible for promoting our community as an attractive travel destination and enhancing its public image as a dynamic place to live and work. Our staff is prepared to help visitors and residents, tour operators, and meeting and convention planners prepare for their visit to Leavenworth and our community.
OUR MISSION
The mission of the City of Leavenworth, KS Convention and Visitors Bureau is to attract visitors, tour groups, and meeting and convention business to the Leavenworth community.
OUR SERVICES
- Planning, Promotional & On-Site Literature - Visitor Guides, maps, brochures, and other promotional literature
- Site Inspection Coordination/FAM Tour - we can help arrange site inspections of hotels, attractions, shops, venues and restaurants
- Step-on Guides - we have four step-on guides ready to give your groups of 20+ people, tours of historic Leavenworth and Fort Leavenworth
- Name badges - contact us for complimentary name badges for groups or meetings staying at least one night in Leavenworth
- Welcome bags - upon request, our bureau can provide a welcome bag with area information
FUNDING AND OPERATIONS
The Leavenworth Convention and Visitors Bureau is responsible for marketing Leavenworth to potential visitors and meeting planners. Through the impact of travel, we strengthen the economic position and provide opportunities in our community to get involved and engage in tourism. We are a non-membership organization representing all hotels, visitor-serving businesses, and visitor-serving organizations within Leavenworth.
We are a department of the City of Leavenworth and work to position Leavenworth as a visitor and conference destination. Visit Leavenworth sells the destination through direct sales efforts such as database marketing, lead generation, trade show participation, and familiarization tours for potential clients. In addition to these direct sales efforts, the CVB promotes Leavenworth through advertising and public relations efforts.
Our funding comes from the collection of an 8% transient guest tax on a hotel room, motel room, or Air BnB, and some Bed n breakfast rooms rented within the City limits of Leavenworth.
