Local artist Nancy Bauder has created several murals around Leavenworth, including this tribute to the daily lives of the early Plains Indians, found on the side of the First City Museum. A glance at a city map will reveal streets named for more than a dozen tribes, including Plains communities like the Kiowa, Osage, Pawnee, Dakota and Cheyenne.
