only city in Kansas that is
located on two
byways: 
Frontier Military Historic
Byway & Glacial Hills

DAY 1

Arrive in Leavenworth, Kansas

11:30 am-Noon - Check into your hotel with a reception of cookies, punch and coffee.  Your group will be greeted by the Leavenworth Convention & Visitors Bureau and Chamber Ambassadors.  Everyone will have a gift bag full of goodies and welcome letter in their rooms.

12:15-1:15 pm - Meal served by the "Harvey Girls'" at the Riverfront Community Center housed in the renovated 1888 Union Depot located adjacent to the Missouri River, $9-10.75 per person (tax & tip incl.),   Menu.

1:15-2:30 pm - Shopping in historic downtown Leavenworth

NOTE: Everyone MUST have a picture ID upon entering Fort Leavenworth.

2:45-3:15 pm - Meet former Buffalo Soldiers at the Buffalo Soldier Monument, $4.00 per person with check made out to the KC/LV Buffalo Soldier Assn.buffalo_soldier_monument_1

4:00-5:30 pm - Guided tour of Ft. Leavenworth with emphasis on the Buffalo Soldiers and the role they played at the Fort, $4.00 per person.

Self-guided tour of the Frontier Army Museum, $4.00 donations. accepted.

6:30 pm - Dinner at Santa Fe Depot Diner, 781 Shawnee, housed in the historic 1887 Santa Fe Depot, Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, vegetable, roll, tea or coffee, cobbler, $10.00 (tax & tip incl.).
A barbershop quartet, the "Possum Holler Four", will sing for your group for $40.00.

DAY 2
8:00-9:00 am - Continental breakfast at your hotel.

9:00-11:00 am - Guided tour of the Richard Allen Cultural Center, 412 Kiowa, a museum that offers a glimpse into the history of African-Americans locally and nationally, $5.00 per person.

11:00 am-12:30 pm - Guided tour of Leavenworth, the "First City of Kansas" with emphasis on the African-American influence on Leavenworth including Underground Railroad sites, $4.00 per person.

12:30-1:30 pm - Buffet Lunch at the High Noon Saloon, 206 Choctaw, Pot Roast or Roasted Chicken, mashed potatoes, vegetable and gourmet cookie, $12.00 per person (tax & tip incl.). 

1:30-2:40pm - Tour of the C.W. Parker Carousel Museum.  Become a kid again and take a ride on an original 1913 Parker carousel, $5.00 per person.
